Distinguishing great photojournalism from good

I really liked all of the photos by David Longstreath but the first one that really caught my eye was defiantly the one with the boy behind the barbed wire fence. I felt like it had a lot of emotion in the image and it also made me wonder how the society in Thailand really is because it is obviously different in the simple american life. It was hard to pick my second favorite one because all the pictures were beautiful but after a while I think I finally came to a decent conclusion. I loved the one with the women standing with the child in her arms. It just seems so emotional and depressing in my opinion. They are both amazing pictures but I think I'm more into the first one with the boy.

After looking at Dave Martins photographs I also just realized how impressive they are but I think it was very easy to select my all time favorite one. My favorite one is defiantly the picture of the man struggling in the hurricane. I love how the background is super foggy and that the man stand out so much because  of the color of his clothing. I don't really know why I love it so much but it just really stood out to me! The one I like after that is another natural disaster type of photo and it also has to do with a hurricane. It has three men in the foreground trying to escape the horrible even all helping each other out. But something I do like about this is that it included the hurricane in the background to really show how horrible the situation probably is. Just looking at the photo makes me feel so bad about everyone involved in the event because I can really sense how it must of been. Again all of the photos were so lovely but it was quite easy to pick my top two.

What is Photojounalism?

Photojournalism is like telling a story in just a photo or two. Its almost completely different than photography although people often tend to get the two mixed up. A lot of people probably think they are the same thing just with a different name. But thats not true however. Photography is taking photos of any kind of noun; a person, a place, or a thing. Photojournalism is simular but istead take photos of verbs. Some thing a photojournalist might take a photo of could be someone running, kicking, sleeping, working, etc.... You name it!
